Where did I go?!

It’s been a while…

A lot has happened in my life since my words last graced this blog. I feel like I owe you, (my one reader, which is probably my mom) and myself an explanation.

I took some time off.

Something happened in the last 12 months which has changed my life forever. I know that may sound dramatic, but in this case, it’s actually true.

I’ll start with the bad news…

In March, I had a laparoscopic surgery which revealed I have endometriosis – a chronic condition with no known cure. I had been suffering for months prior to the surgery with horrendous pain. I basically had a pharmacy in my handbag with the number of drugs I had to take on a daily basis. I don’t want to go into too much detail in this post about the condition and everything that happened before, during and after my diagnosis, as I will do a separate, more detailed post on this. I have struggled mentally and physically over the last year to come to terms with all these changes to my physical health and what it might mean for the future, so I couldn’t really do or think about anything else. Hence my departure from this blog…

Now on to the good news!

My health might have taken a swift downturn, but things are looking up for me and Gavin!

We set a date for our wedding! We’ve been engaged 4 years, but we finally decided it was time to do the deed and get hitched! We’ll become a Mr & Mrs in August, 2018! Hurray!

With the wedding on the way, we decided to make things super stressful for ourselves and also buy a house! We’ve had an offer accepted on a place and are smoothing out all the boring details before we get the keys! It’s extremely exciting, though completely overwhelming and nerve-wracking. I still don’t feel like it’s all actually happening.  I’m an adult now, and it’s bloody terrifying.

And that’s the bulk of it… only a few minor things to keep me occupied…

You might see a few changes to A Modern Drift in the next few months. I will be posting more lifestyle bits on the blog – you can expect house renovations, moving tips, wedding inspiration, honeymoon planning etc. I also have posts to come on my trips to Toronto and Rome!

Getting married & a house?! Who the heck am I?! Old. That’s who I am.
